Shelter as a Human Right | Group Exhibition
Forum Gallery
Curated by Eric Tuck-Macalla, Shelter as a Human Right explores what it means to be unsheltered, to be under the strain of housing insecurity, and to be a refugee in today’s social climate. This group exhibition features two- and three-dimensional artworks created by artists from the unhoused community that Macalla assists at St. Paul’s UCC in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as Macalla’s own sculptural structures. Visitors will experience emotional representations of home, hearth, and shelter, through the lens of individuals who have experienced this displacement firsthand.

Tuck-Macalla works closely with the shelter-insecure community, both professionally and on her own time.
Marthe Vernet is from Haiti and was living on the streets of Cleveland near Ohio City. She is a frequent attendee at the Artist Colony.
Andrea Puryear comes to the St. Pauls UCC Outreach Center every Wednesday with her daughter to attend the Artist Colony.
