Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Statement
Summit Artspace is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
We believe that the celebration of our community’s individual differences, life experiences, self-expression, and unique capabilities is a significant part of our culture, reputation, and achievement as an organization. As such, we embrace and encourage differences in age, color, disability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our community and those we serve unique.
Summit Artspace leadership is dedicated to removing barriers so that artists and community members of all abilities and backgrounds have access to a comfortable, enriching, and educational experience while visiting our building, interacting with our artists and artwork, and engaging with our programs.
Accessibility Features

- Automatic front doors
- Ramps and elevators to all three floors and all five galleries throughout the building so those in wheelchairs can access entire building
- Accessible wayfinding signage with directional information for restrooms, galleries, and the elevator
- Restrooms located on all three floors
- Changing tables located in women’s and men’s 3rd floor restrooms
- Near each restroom is an Opioid Emergency Kit with Narcan and other lifesaving resources
- Gallery stools, benches, and chairs available in all five galleries
- All staff and some volunteers are KultureCity Sensory Inclusive certified
- We are welcoming of service animals as defined by the ADA
- An array of assistive, mobility, and sensory items are available to check-out at the front desk, including:

- KultureCity Sensory Bags
- Personal Hearing Amplifiers
- Portable Digital Video Magnifiers
- Wheelchairs
Note that visitors who request accessibility items will need to leave a driver’s license or similar item in a locked box at the front desk as collateral to ensure that items are returned after use.

Sensory Room
On the first floor, visitors will find a sensory and quiet room to provide a calming environment for those who get overstimulated or need some privacy for a moment. This dedicated space is open during public hours and events. The sensory room is outfitted for guests with visionary, auditory, physical, and developmental or cognitive disabilities as well as nursing mothers and families with children, but all are welcome to take advantage of its calming environment.
The small room has adjustable elements for sound, lighting, and comfort. The space includes hammock chairs, weighted lap pads, sensory and fidget toys, books, and noise-cancelling headphones. We recommend 1-2 people use the space at a time due to its small size. Please help us keep the sensory room safe, friendly, and available for all by keeping items in the space or returning them after use in the building.

The Recovery Friendly Workplace (RFW) movement seeks to address these challenges through a cross-sectoral, collaborative, proactive, and supportive approach.
Recovery Friendly Workplace Summit County (RFWSC) empowers employers to promote worksite wellness, support employees struggling with substance misuse, provide job opportunities for individuals in recovery, and help reduce the stigma of addiction. Workers in recovery contribute to a healthier, more productive workforce, and businesses see benefits like reduced healthcare costs, fewer unplanned absences, and lower turnover rates. We believe recovering citizens are resourceful, resilient, and ready to work!
