Imagine Infinite: Where Wonder Meets Transcendence

Imagine Infinite: Where Wonder Meets Transcendence | Group Exhibition

Intersections Gallery

Featuring artists from Door 2 Art Studio in Hudson— Adriana CasoAmanda Du PlooyDarlene HessDaniel HughesSara HughesBen McRaeMichele MoncriefMeaghan Reed, and Mike Seng.

When we are young, we easily slip into magic worlds of enchantment, believe in the supernatural, and embrace miracles and mystery. The older we get, the more we live in the rational reality of the moment. This exhibition features nine artists from Door 2 Art Studio in Hudson. It is interactive and will engage all the senses to awaken the possibilities of entering a world of transcendence through beauty and wonder. The outcome of such an awakening can be the restoration of communication and relationships, more empathy for each other, awareness, and more. This multi-media show explores these ideas, inviting the viewers to participate in surprising ways.

Special thanks to Bradley Hart, Summit Artspace resident artist, for photography of virtual exhibitions!

8- Adriana Caso | Birds and Words, Box-o-Heads | $3,200
Mixed media

Artist Statement: I am intrigued by the contrasts in the ways birdsong exists within the noise of our lives. Each bird sings its own song for different reasons, but together they create a phenomenal sound of unity. We observe that they are not “agreeing” with each other. They each have their own unique melody to add to the chorus. I long for the days when I could disagree with someone and remain a friend. Each of us having a song to sing, diverse yet unified. Communication and kindness take time. Our lives make a sound, what sound will yours make?

14- Michael Davis Seng & Ben McRae | Nothing to See Here | NFS
Multimedia installation

Artist Statement: Our world is full of things trying to dominate our attention. Every piece of content is designed to feel imminent, and all consuming. Though a useful tool, technology can so easily be used to turn our time and efforts into an endless stream of corporate advertising revenue while we say, “just one more click,” and “one more scroll. As for the world around us, “Nothing to see here” is what we’re told. But can these algorithms, finely crafted to keep us scrolling, really compare to the wonder readily available as we engage the tangible world around us? I invite you to put your phone down for a moment and to allow your mind to engage with those elements of the world around us, so often passed over as mundane.

15- Amanda Du Plooy | The Lightness of Being | Sculpture $500; Spice Receptacles $100 ea.
Wood, metal, glass, spices

Artist Statement: Within the human experience lies a complex web of emotions, often entangled with heartache, stress, anxiety, depression, and rage. These burdensome feelings can become shackles that drag us down into the darkest corners of our souls, leaving us feeling trapped and unable to escape. Through Lightness of Being I seek to shed light on the possibility of breaking free from these psychological chains. The artwork aims to instill hope in the viewer, offering the notion that we possess the capacity to transcend the emotional and psychological laws of gravity that hold us captive. It beckons us to look inward with the realization that negative emotions are often fueled by a lack of self-esteem and an unyielding need for validation from external sources, which tethers us to the perpetual seeking and perpetuating a sense of powerlessness.

The artwork invites contemplation and introspection, prompting a journey towards self-discovery and self-compassion. It serves as a beacon of hope, guiding us toward a higher plane of existence—one that is defined by the lightness of our spirits and the liberation from the gravitational pull of negativity. By metaphorically gazing into the light of God’s eyes, we find wings for our souls, a source of unyielding love and acceptance. This divine perspective, not bound by the judgments of the world, reminds us of our inherent worth and the strength within us to transcend above our emotional burdens.
