Class Fee: $105 non-member, $100 member of Artists of Rubber City
Instructor: Mandy Peltier
This 4-week course will teach you the foundational fine art techniques and strategies to use when working with colored pencil on white paper. We will begin with a series of exercises that will be completed as we progressively work through an outline together in class. The exercises will demonstrate pencil pressure, pencil strokes, blending and burnishing, color layering, strategies to achieving different textures, and more. After working through the outline and finishing the accompanying exercises, we will work on two tutorials together in class to reinforce what was learned in the exercises. We will begin by completing a single cherry together before working on a slightly more complex fruit composition.
Students need to bring at least a 24 count box of Prismacolor Premier pencils, a Prismacolor Premier colorless blender, a handheld pencil sharpener, an eraser, and an artist tote or clipboard. As part of the class supplies fee, each student will receive a spiral bound workbook containing an outline and two tutorials, and a folder containing worksheets and artist grade paper to complete the exercises and tutorials.
