Jack St. John

Jack was born and raised in the Cleveland area, and currently lives and maintains a studio in Bedford, Ohio. After a brief career as an engineering student at Case Western Reserve University, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University, with a concentration in painting, benefiting in particular from the insight and instruction of Joe O’Sickey, Craig Lucas, and Morton Grossman. After that he participated in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has exhibited regularly in both local and national juried shows. In addition to being an exhibiting artist he has worked as a professional faux finisher, painter and carpenter for 30+ years, both as a self-employed artisan and for the family-owned decorating company. He is married to a former Cleveland Public Schools art teacher, who is an active plein air water colorist. They are both very active in outdoor activities, such as camping and hiking.
