Chey became an artist to delve deeper into the creativity and energy they have to make and explore through visual, auditory and multitudinous means. They have worked on the margins of artistic creation through several roles as an arts administrator and have always found inspiration in the world and artists around them. It was only at the beginning of 2022 that they decided to create with intention and ignore the fear of validity and thus, have become an artist. Their current work is focused on the relationship between nature, movement and sound. They work in the medium of photography and drawn works and have recently begun to explore painting. They also consider the creative work of curating playlists and written essays to go along with mixes of sound, a huge part of their creative practice. Most of their photography is landscape and environment focused and works to create patterns in the things we see everyday. Most of the drawn and sketched work they have created is based on an idea they are developing called “movement language”. This language is explored through minimalist drawn figures in dance and movement.
