This body of work is inspired and based on Ancient Greek sculpture and Renaissance style painting, while also being inspired by the Greek stories of the past. I chose the Grecian era because it means a lot to me due to my passionate interest in Greek culture. I seem to constantly find connections and pull from Grecian antiquity throughout my life. Due to much of the ancient sculpture being broken and cracked, using a complete living human body calls for some interpretation. Throughout the process of this body of work, the use of paintings that were based on the antiquity greek myths and stories, have been incorporated and interpreted into new images. This brings a new set of emotions and reactions with a more modern depiction.
The studies and knowledge of the human form are used to convey stories, myths, and propaganda of antiquity Greece. It has drawn many eyes and interests throughout different fields of study, including my own. I hope with this body of work I can bring a fresh perspective to this subject and composition. While focusing on the movement of the living human body, bringing to life the paintings and sculptures, I was able to bring my work into the modern world while still preserving the essence of the past work.
