April Levack
April Levack is an art teacher at Norton High School, where she has taught AP Art History and studio art to grades 9 through 12 since 2015. A Crafts course she developed became the catalyst for the annual Wearable Arts Fashion Show, now in its seventh year. The show has sparked a new level of engagement with the arts and evolved into a multidisciplinary, student-driven production. It has become a highlight of the school year for students and a tradition that has positively shaped school culture. Students lead every aspect—from artmaking and modeling to lighting, sound, and stage management—bringing together diverse social groups and skill sets to create a cohesive, community-centered event. This authentic, project-based learning experience connects students not only to one another but also to their local and broader communities.
In 2022, Levack was awarded a Teaching Innovation Fellowship with the Cleveland Museum of Art. She has taught internationally in Mexico and Korea, has led several student trips abroad, and has coached track, cross-country, and cheerleading. In 2020, students voted her Teacher of the Year, and in 2018 she was selected by the administration for the Summit County All-Star Teaching Team. Above all, Ms. Levack is known for keeping her students’ best interests at the center of her work and for tirelessly supporting their creativity and individualism.
