Still Serving Artists Campaign
As many of you know, Summit Artspace’s doors have been closed to the public since August for our much-anticipated renovation project updating a host of areas throughout our nearly 100-year-old building, owned by Summit County. The project will improve the spaces where local artists create, display, and share their art with the community, which is core to our mission.
While these updates are exciting and much needed, the temporary closure has led to a budget gap for the organization due to the loss of revenue earned from studio and event rentals as well as gallery and event donations. Summit County generously granted us $15,000 to offset these losses, and we are now turning to YOU our wonderful donors and community to help raise an additional $15,000. These funds will not only ensure we are still able to serve our amazing local artists while being closed but will further discount our resident artists’ rent, to help minimize the financial impact of reduced visibility and sales during closures.
Thank you in advance to our donors and community members for contributing to our Still Serving Artists Campaign. As a token of our gratitude, the first 25 individuals who give $100 or more will receive a special edition linocut print by resident artist Joan Colbert. The print features a design inspired by the art-deco facade of our historic building, built for the Akron Beacon Journal in 1927. AND anyone who donates $250 or more will receive a special invitation to a VIP preview event of the new renovations at the time of our re-opening.
Your generosity will help ensure artists have a space to thrive at Summit Artspace this year and beyond.
