We Need Your Help
Summit Artspace is entering an important new chapter. Renovations to our historic building owned by Summit County are underway, transforming it into a more dynamic and accessible hub for artists and the community.
While this work is essential to our future, it has created real challenges in the present. The temporary closure has led to a budget gap due to the loss of revenue earned from studio and event rentals as well as gallery and event donations. Many of our resident artists are experiencing reduced visibility and decreased sales as foot traffic to their studios has been disrupted.
In response, we are launching the Still Serving Artists Campaign. Summit County generously granted us $15,000 to offset these losses, and we are now turning to YOU our wonderful donors and community to help raise an additional $15,000. These funds will not only ensure we are still able to serve our amazing local artists while being closed but will help offset the financial impact of the closures on our resident artists by further discounting their rent.
Your investment secures the foundation for a thriving artist community, protecting the vital role artists play in our region’s cultural and economic life. With your support, Summit Artspace will not only reopen with renewed spaces but with a strong community of artists ready to grow into the future. Together, we can ensure that while our building is under construction, we are still serving artists.
Thank you to Summit County for funding the Summit Artspace renovations project with additional support from Akron Community Foundation and GAR Foundation.
Let's Hear from our Executive Director & Resident Artists!
Limited edition woodblock print in progress from our Resident Artist, Joan Colbert!
Thank you in advance to our donors and community members for contributing to our Still Serving Artists Campaign. As a token of our gratitude, the first 25 individuals who give $100 or more will receive a special edition linocut print by resident artist Joan Colbert. The print features a design inspired by the art-deco facade of our historic building, built for the Akron Beacon Journal in 1927. AND anyone who donates $250 or more will receive a special invitation to a VIP preview event of the new renovations at the time of our re-opening. Your generosity will help ensure artists have a space to thrive at Summit Artspace this year and beyond.
