NEW NORMAL AT SUMMIT ARTSPACE

We’re so happy to be open again! Tickets are good to visit gallery shows at Summit Artspace on East Market in Akron and Summit Artspace on Tusc in Barberton during public hours. Artists with studios in the buildings will each have their own reopening timelines and guidelines.

Summit Artspace will be following state directives so visitors will need to register for a free, timed ticket at Eventbrite.  Links below. Your ticket is for 1.5 hours but feel free to stay longer and see the amazing local artwork. Thursdays from 12 to 3 p.m. are reserved for vulnerable populations at Summit Artspace on East Market. If you have questions or are experiencing difficulty, call our office at 330-376-8480.

See the Artists of Rubber City Regional Juried Art Exhibition juried by artist Amy Mothersbaugh in the main gallery space at Summit Artspace on East Market. The show attracts area artists from Summit and surrounding counties who work in an array of media sharing contemporary visual themes.

Artists of Rubber City, a nonprofit member based visual arts organization founded in 1978, has long been a diverse group of artists, reflected in the variety of media and styles of its membership. The organization presents two group exhibitions annually highlighting the work of dozens of local artists from novices and students to veterans and professionals: its Member Show, and this regional juried show. https://artistsofrubbercity.org/

On the third floor in the THREE G Gallery at the East Market location, the juried photography exhibit Motion // Emotion will intrigue visitors with visuals that reveal the external energy of motion and internal emotion. Building father-son relationships are complex at best living side-by-side in the growing up years. But what if your father is in prison? Akron area educator and artist Greg Milo’s solo autobiographical show is a poignant record of family ties. Mr. Fred and Mr. Greg – Love Beyond Boundaries runs July 10 to August 15 in the Welcome Gallery.

See objects in their second lives as art in Discarded and Rediscovered at Summit Artspace on Tusc, 571 W. Tuscarawas Ave., Barberton. The show juried by artist Gwen Waight of Peninsula. For this exhibition, artists are challenged to repurpose, reclaim, and rediscover discarded materials through the production of strong and compelling artwork.

ARTIST STUDIOS WELCOME YOU BACK

With re-entry to Summit Artspace on East Market, you can also check out the artists studios . Artists have been back at their studios for several weeks and many of them have continued to create new works that you’ll be able see and purchase. They will be determining their own reopening schedules and guidelines for spending time in their spaces.
