Summit Artspace will be following state directives for social distancing. Visitors may choose to register for a timed, ticket here at Eventbrite. Please choose a date and time and complete the registration. Tickets are free. Your ticket is for 1.5 hours but feel free to stay longer and see the amazing local artwork. Thursdays from 12 to 3 p.m. are reserved for vulnerable populations.

As 2020 draws to a close, the 18th Annual Kaleidoscope Juried Art Exhibition is a joyous celebration of vibrant, local art that can be seen in person or virtually at Summit Artspace from Nov. 20 to Dec. 19. Link to virtual show: summitartspace.org/kaleidoscope-virtual.
SHOW DATES & TIMES, WINNERS
The show opened in the Summit Artspace main first floor gallery on Thursday, Nov. 20, at noon, for in-person visits. Admission is free. Weekly gallery hours are Thursday and Friday, 12- 7 p.m.; and Saturday, 12-5 p.m. Summit Artspace on East Market is located at 140 E. Market St., Akron. YOU PICK THE ARTIST WHO WINS THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD!
Gallery visitors and online viewers will be able to vote for their favorite artist to win the People’s Choice Award, a working kaleidoscope designed and hand-blown by glass artist, Bob Pozarski. The winner will be announced at the end of the show on the Summit Artspace website.

Art of Print Regional Juried Printmaking Exhibit

The art of printmaking, with its long and enduring history, has continued to develop and diversify well into the twenty-first century. Artists are using the multiplicity and accessibility of print media to comment on relevant issues and promote change. In addition, the printmaking process is incredibly experiential, allowing for artists to engage with the medium and communicate their personal interests and concerns. Printmaking encompasses a wide range of techniques including etching, monotypes, screen printing, lithography, stenciling, and countless others as well as combinations. all of which are welcome in this exhibition.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS: ARTIST AS AN ENTREPRENEUR INSTITUTE COHORT
Oct. 9 – Dec. 19, 2020 | Welcome Gallery
Open for Business showcases art by the most recent participants in the Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute at Summit Artspace. AEI is a partnership among Summit Artspace, Arts Cleveland and the Burton D. Morgan Foundation which funds the annual program. AEI is open to individuals who are interested in or are already becoming entrepreneurs in the creative arts, including but not limited to visual art, music, theatre, dance, and writing. Participants receive foundational business knowledge and hands-on training as part of the curriculum in this multi-week course.
Artists also have the opportunity to meet with and learn from successful creative entrepreneurs in Akron and the surrounding area. In addition to the class curriculum, participants receive the benefits of a supportive peer group and the exchange of unique perspectives on growing their creative business. The Open for Business show is the capstone project for the 2019-2020 cohort that concluded at the beginning of the global pandemic.
ARTWALK | Summit Artspace on East Market

Artwalk is an art/retail event organized by Summit Artspace on East Market in downtown Akron on the first Saturday of the month, from 5-8 p.m.

With re-entry to Summit Artspace on East Market, you can also check out the artists studios . Artists have been back at their studios for several weeks and many of them have continued to create new works that you’ll be able see and purchase. They will be determining their own reopening schedules and guidelines for spending time in their spaces.
