For this exhibition\, artists are challenged to repurpose\, reclaim\, and rediscover discarded materials through the production of strong and compelling artwork. \nAs a consumerist society that is constantly disposing and discarding\, what does it mean to rediscover and repurpose? This may be finding value in something that another person has deemed worthless\, or reusing an object because of an intrinsic interest one might have in it; maybe it’s manipulating a found-object to communicate an idea that it was never intended to communicate. Interpretations of this rediscovery may include assemblages\, collages\, the use of a nontraditional foundation for a painting\, and many more. Artists with studios in the building will each have their own reopening timelines and guidelines.  \nFOUND OBJECTS FIND A HOME IN DISCARDED AND REDISCOVERED July 18 – Sept. 5\, 2020 | Opens July 18\, 5 p.m.\nJuror Gwen Waight\nSee objects in their second lives as art in Discarded and Rediscovered juried by artist Gwen Waight of Peninsula. For this exhibition\, artists are challenged to repurpose\, reclaim\, and rediscover discarded materials through the production of strong and compelling artwork. Photographer Tim Fitzwater (http://www.Fitzwater-Photography.com) is the juror. \nMotion and emotion are two concepts that affect our everyday lives: we are constantly moving and are constantly feeling. While motion is often external\, emotion manifests itself internally. Emotions can lead us to make decisions and make change\, and allow us to form deep relationships. For this exhibition\, photographers are asked to respond to either of these universal ideas\, motion or emotion. \nShow image by Tim Fitzwater. \nTICKET CENTER\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR A FREE\, TIMED TICKET. \nVisitors will need to register for a free\, timed ticket at Eventbrite.
