Kaleidoscope 2007: The Alliance for Visual Arts

Kaleidoscope 2007 opens Friday, November 16th with a meet-the-artists reception from 6 pm until 8 pm. The show runs through January 5th. Works of art were submitted by members of the Alliance for the Visual Arts. The jurors of the exhibition were Diane Belfiglio and Michelle Nelson.

As a juror of the show Belfiglio said, ” Jurying the show was a real pleasure. It was great to see both the high energy and diversity of the pieces submitted. Although making choices was at times difficult, it was important to both Michelle and me that we select works that were not only technically competent, but also had greater intellectual or spiritual depth to them. we also wanted to show the greatest diversity and energy that was present in the artwork submitted. The resultant show demonstrates that art is alive and well in Akron. Kudos to all those who worked so hard to create their art, and to those people behind the scenes who made the show possible.”

Michelle Nelson said, “I want to offer a profound thank you for the opportunity to be a juror for this exhibit. I always find it an inspiration to be around the work of others and this experience was no exception! It was a pleasure to judge the Kaleidoscope exhibit. The variety of media and diversity of self expression found in the show was so exhilarating to see as a judge. I am most often drawn to work that excites my imagination or inspires the belief that there is a story of significance that the work holds. For those who did not get accepted into the show know that the elimination was a difficult process.”
