Collage x 12

12 Collage Artists Show at Summit Artspace

Coined in the artistic sense by George Braque and Pablo Picasso in the early 20th century, the term collage derives from the French word for glue.  Creating collage entails combining disparate items, such as newspaper clippings, fabric, photos and found objects, to create a single work of art.  The Collage X 12 exhibition will be on display January 22 through February 27 at Summit Artspace Gallery in downtown Akron.

Featured are Medina artist Alexander Aitken; Hudson artist Gretchen Bierbaum; Cuyahoga Falls artists Jean Deemer, Shirley Ende-Saxe and Judith Salamon; Akron artist Brenda Keblesh; Ravenna artist Jan Noden; Kent artist Lucy Redick; Monroe Falls artist Cathy Reynolds and Aurora artists Peg Strohmenger and Catherine Wooley.  All are members of the Ohio Collage Society.
