Akron Society of Artists 80th Anniversary Members’ Show

Winners Announced in the ASA 80th Anniversary Members Exhibition

 Akron Society of Artists member Cleo Clark Williams of Canton won the $300 first prize in the group’s 80th Anniversary Member Show, which is on display at Summit Artspace Gallery through November 6.  Her winning painting is done in oil and titled Three Granny Smiths.

Founded in 1931, ASA has 133 members who meet regularly for painting demonstrations, lectures, critiques and studio sessions with live models and still life subjects.  Its mission is to advance the skill, knowledge and appreciation of art among its members and the general public; to encourage the advancement and understanding of art in the community and to afford financial assistance and encouragement to worthy art students.

The second place $200 prize went to Judy Takacs of Solon for an oil painting titled Paul is the Best Man and the third place $100 prize was an oil painting called Medallion by Dan Lindner of North Canton.  Honorable mentions went to Paul Jursik of Tallmadge for the watercolor Scottish VillageKimberly Moore of Wadsworth for the pastel Earthshine, Carol Paquay of Wadsworth for Pig done in clay and Linda Tompkin of Copley for the acrylic Now and Then.

ASA members Linda Hutchinson of Kent, Ann Kah of Macedonia and Ken Kirkland of Akron selected the 81 pieces that are on display.  Prize winners were chosen by artist A.D. Peters.
