About the Artist:

Jennifer Worden is a self-taught glass artist who creates whimsical glass pieces. She started with glass mosaics in the early 2000s and evolved into torch and kiln work around 2010. When she began, she used commercial glass in creating her pieces but felt limited in her ability to experiment due to its cost. About a year after Jennifer started kiln firing, her good friend (who is not an artist) had a cobalt blue wine bottle and asked her, “This is glass, can’t you use this?” That question set Jennifer off on her current path. She has been using bottles, discarded and broken dishware, and discarded window panes in the creation of her work for the past decade. She is inspired by nature and references to mosses and fungus can be found in her pieces.

Jennifer enjoys flower gardening and growing heirloom tomatoes from seed. Her family is also creative. Her husband is a writer and her daughter enjoys drawing. They currently have 2 dogs and 3 cats (2 of which are rescued strays from their neighborhood).

Why Summit Artspace?

“I had been participating in art festivals for about 5 years and wanted to pivot to having a public work and display space. I had been a visitor to Summit Artspace for years and thought it would be the perfect place for me. Not only have I gained a dedicated space for my art, but I’ve gained a wonderful community of fellow artists and building visitors who have helped me grow and expand my art and have also become my friends,” said Jennifer.
